With the help of one of our attorneys, you may be able to receive compensation for you or your loved one with dog bite injuries. This can include the cost of medical care and plastic surgery, payment for scarring or deformity to your body, physical and emotional pain and suffering, lost wages, etc. When a dog bite happens, there are laws in place that help protect you as the victim and the public at large. There are usually three types of laws in place for dog bite victims found within your city's jurisdiction.
1) Civil Laws - That provide monetary compensation to the victim of the dog bite. The rules are somewhat different than in other injury claims.
2) Criminal Laws - That are in place to impose punishment on the dog owner
3) Administrative Laws - Creating remedies against the dog itself, such as quarantine and euthanasia.
Make sure to contact an attorney today if you have been a victim of a dog bite. The dog does not necessarily have to be classified as a "dangerous dog" for you to recover compensation for your injuries. Here is a link to Brevard County Animal Services. "The Legislature finds that dangerous dogs are an increasingly serious and widespread threat to the safety and welfare of the people of this state because of unprovoked attacks which cause injury to persons and domestic animals." They found "such attacks are in part attributable to the failure of owners to confine and properly train and control their dogs."
